Board upholds license suspension of obstetrician in abortion injury
In unrelated case, panel
takes action against Severna Park
doctor in overdose death
A state medical panel upheld a suspension order Wednes
day against an obstetrician who ran a clinic in which an 18-
year-old woman was
badly injured during an abortion.
Neither the
doctor — George Shepard Jr., 88, who oversaw the five Maryland clinics of Ameri
can Women's Services — nor his attorney appeared at the hearing in Baltimore of the Maryland Board of Physicians that was to hear evidence against him in the case of the woman, who suffered a perforated uterus and other injuries during an Aug. 13 procedure in Elkton.
The medical licenses of Shepard and another
doctor, Nicola I. Riley, 45, were suspended last week. A third
doctor in the case, Steven C. Brigham, 54, who state officials
say owns the chain of clinics, was not licensed to practice
medicine in Maryland and was ordered to
stop doing so.
Riley, a
family doctor who obtained her Maryland license July 20 and who medical officials
say performed the Aug. 13 abortion under Brigham's instructions, was at home Wednes
day in Salt Lake City.
Two lawyers appeared at the hearing on her behalf and asked for a continuance on the grounds that they had not had sufficient
time to prepare a defense. The 12 board members granted the continuance but
did not set a date for a new hearing. In the mean
time, Riley's license remains suspended.

Lately I've been
getting acnce on my t-zone (forhead, cheeks, chin) and it's so annoying! Thankfully the acne usually isn't that big or red, more
like a bunch of tiny bumps. I've also noticed that throughout the
day, my face
gets
really shiny/oily. I try to
take care of my skin but it doesn't
seem to
help. I wash my face twice a
day, I use bare minerals
makeup which isn't supposed to clog pores, I drink water,
take my vitamins, and apply spot treatment

I
got a fire ant bite exactly a week
ago in the evening. It became a little swollen as they all do, but the next morning it was much worse. I
took allergy
medicine and used a topical bug treatment with little improvement. The next
day I had a
doctor's appointment, and he prescribed Clobetasol Propionate Ointment. This
helped, and by the next
day, Satur
day, it was hardly swollen at all. I continued to use it Satur
day but not after that as it
seemed to be gone. The appointment was for a wart on my foot and so I was unable to do any running or exercise until to
day as it was sore. I went for a run this evening with my husband, about 1.25 miles before it was
really swollen and hurt. I walked for a little while, hoping to run more and that the swelling would go down, but it's been 45 minutes, and it still hurts.

Open Question: If Qur'an is
really the holy book from Allah, then why are there so many scientific problems in the Qur'an?
//
September 8, 2010 at 10:58 PM
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100908195804AAt8DRJ
Claiming that the Quran contains scientific or mathematical miracles does not prove anything in and of itself. The ancient, and idol-worshiping, Greek, Roman, Aztec and Indian
people (along with MANY others) created literature, buildings, machines,
medicine and ideas that
seem “miraculous” to us to
day.
These statements
get the main idea from the verse. If you complain and start
saying "That's not how the Qur'an is written!" then yeah, I
know that.
Open up your Qur'an with each verse pointed out if you
want to, then. If you don't believe in some of these statements and refuse to look the verse up,
just assuming that the meanings have been "twisted," then you're ignorant, indeed. I'm
just opening some eyes of Muslims who have not researched the Qur'an well.
If you truly believe the Qur'an is a word of god, you must tell me what
makes EACH of these verses right.
Muslims
say that the Quran’s description of a baby's development is, in itself, a miracle.
The Quran points out that a fetus grows from small to big and develops flesh and bones. It’s not a miracle to point out the obvious. Nor is it miraculous to
say that a baby "clings" to the inside of its mother. Everyone, everywhere
knows this! It's called an umbilical cord.
When you read the Quran you
get the impression that a baby grows from the father’s sperm and that the mother’s womb is
just an incubator. The Quran talks about a wife being “a tilth” (cultivated farmland) for her husband (2:223) and that her womb is “lodging” for his sperm (23:13). The Quran never mentions the ovum despite the fact that the egg does 99% of the work.
Does the “sinful hair” reference in verse 96:16 prove that the Quran knew that thoughts (sin) come from the brain? Why
did Allah
say “hair” when He
really meant “brain”? Why not
just say “brain” outright? Why don’t we assume that “hair” was referring to the scalp or scull? Verse 11:5
says that Allah
knows what “thoughts are in your heart”. The Quran uses this “
thinking heart” term over 100
times. Are we to
take this “
thinking heart” metaphor laterally - or does “heart” mean “brain” as well? Verse 55:41 agrees that sinners will be “seized by the forelocks...” but adds “...and the feet”. Verse 60:12 suggests that falsehood is created between the hands and feet.
The Quran claims that the night “covers” or “veils” the
day. It must be true, it
says this 4
times (7:54, 13:3, 91:4, 92:1). In reality, the “night”
gets “covered” with a view-blocking “veil”, the blue sky.
Semen comes from between the
backbone and the ribs (86:7). We
need long, drawn-out explanations to try and explain this verse but are these “excuses” necessary for such a simple issue?
Stars are missiles used to shoot at devils (37:6-8, 67:5). Shooting stars are rocky meteors, not stars.
The sun rises and sets at two points on the Earth (18:85-90). This is NOT a metaphor. The Quran describes these places as real, physical locations. You
get there by road and
people live in these areas.
The Quran
says that nothing holds birds up in the sky except Allah (16:79, 67:19). Air is a physical substance. Flight is not magic,
just ask the Wright brothers.
Stars are located in the “lowest alssamai” or heaven (37:6). This is the same “alssamai” in which birds fly (16:79). The Quran doesn’t (or
can’t) distinguish between the atmosphere and outer space.
The Quran claims that there are no flaws in Allah’s sky (literally, there are no gaps 50:6). What about the holes in the O-Zone that let in deadly radiation? Most of the holes are natural, not man-made.
Allah “sends thunderbolts and smites with them whom He pleases” (13:13). Is Allah is Zeus or Thor? Why does Allah allow man to redirect lightning with lightning rods? With metal rods, man gains the god
like power of determining lightning’s path? Lightning follows the path of least resistance, not Allah’s will. We have a scientific explanation for lightning - and it’s NOT magic!
Allah created everything in pairs (13:3, 43:12, 51:49). What about species that reproduce asexually?
Allah sent down to you 4 kinds of cattle/livestock (39:6). Muhammad knew about the 4 types of animals used in Arabia during his life
time. But
people worldwide have more than 4 types of livestock.
Men are “a degree above” women. 2:228
HandBanana: Thank you.
Wow, somebody already gave you a thumbs down. That's sad. They should explain what
makes US wrong.
Let it rock: Explain how this is dumb?

My husband had a Level 2 AC Joint Separation while he was deployed overseas 2
years ago. He was not able to
get proper treatment and let it heal without
medicine or a
doctor. When he
got home he went to a specialist and
got xrays, physical therapy and a steroid shot. After he completed physical therapy, all
pain was gone and movement of the shoulder came
back. His
doctor said that he should be fine and if anything, surgery may be an option later if the bump starts to cause him
pain by carrying heavy bags and such all the
time. He has had no problem with his shoulder for about 1 and a half
years. He is deployed and suddenly all
pain has returned. Movement is difficult and the
pain is localized to the end of the clavicle where the injury
took place. He
can not
see an actual
doctor where he is and
can not be transferred to another place. He has been
taking anti-inflammitory
medicine for about 5
days with no resolve. He has been
going to the gym up until this point but has
stopped since
the
pain is intense. So my question is why is his
pain back? I
did some research and recurring
pain is not common. I thought he might have
just pulled a muscle but the
pain is localized to the exact place where his injury was. What
can he do? The medic
told him it might be the steroid shot wearing off. What do you
think?

told me about the career. My aunt
took me on a tour of the pharmacy she works in and showed me what she does as a pharmacist. From that point on I was positive that was what I
wanted to do. I knew science and math classes were very important to have under one’s own belt, so I
took as many science classes, and math classes as possible. I even
did some research on my own about different
medicine because I had, and still have such a great interest about that subject. I would love to have a chance to earn a
doctorate degree in pharmacy, which this six
year program will provide. I have a hunger to learn everything possible to become the best pharmacist possible. I have no problem sitting down and
studying for hours upon hours as well as working hands on in the lab. I have
good personable skills which I
know is very important for the
job as well as obtaining and retaining the
knowledge about the multitude of drugs.

Open Question: Can
medicine make you permanently smarter?
//
September 8, 2010 at 9:31 PM
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100908183138AAHUDlI
For the past few
days, I have wondered whether OCD
medicine such as Lexapro actually
makes
people smarter and if that "intelligence" boost is permanent or not. Supposedly, it increases the amount of available serotonin for the brain by blocking the reabsorption of serotonin by the brain. Moreover, serotonin controls learning, memory, and a bunch of other
things. So this would lead me to
think that more serotonin available for the brain means that understanding concepts and what-not is easier and therefore causes you to be smarter.
I've
taken lexapro and a bunch of other OCD
medicine (risperodone, prozac, abilify) for a while, but I've
stopped because my psychiatrist
told me that OCD
medicine can have "cognitive benefits." I
really don't
want to become smarter using
medicine because when I
take tests and do well, I
feel like it's not me, it's the
medicine. There's no way for me to
know if I
did well because I
just I'm naturally smart or because of the
medicine. Plus, I've heard that
medicine in general
can "change your brain." I
keep thinking that because I've
taken OCD
medicine in the past,
people will
think that I'm
just a cheater and not actually smart (though I've been
told that I am smart) no matter how much I
study to do well on tests.
Did OCD
medicine really permanently
make me smarter, or am I
just imagining
things?

Open Question: Does the use of betacap (corticosteroid) have any hair loss side-effects as a result of skin thinning?
//
September 8, 2010 at 9:07 PM
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100908180750AAsCVdE
I'm a 20 y.o. male, and I've been using betacap (a topical scalp application of corticosteroid for reduction of inflammation caused by psoriasis: http://www.net
doctor.co.uk/
medicines/100000278.html) for around 7 months, once every
day.
I've noticed my hairline has gone
back. Also, my hair used to be incredibly dense and healthy, but now I'm noticing its not as dense - so much that I
can very easily
see my scalp now, which appears red in some places. Has this been caused by the betacap or could it be from the psoriasis plaques? I've read that betacap causes the thinning of skin...so does this thinning of the scalp skin mean I'm loosing hair as a result?
I've
started putting essential oils in my hair regularly and avoid SLS shampoos, apart from Nizoral (Ketoconazole) which I use thrice a week. Should I change this or is there anything else I
can do?

When I

get in crying spells,
feel lonely, and depressed. I some
times have an destructive
feeling to destroy
things,
like for an example I
want to
get in the kitchen smash plates squirt
things everywhere
like ketchup. I am 23 yrs. old. My mom has schizo affective disorder too. I do not have many friends. I'm nervous and anxious around
people, even with
people I
know. I cry some
times with no reason to cry. I
get my
feeling hurts easily. My thoughts go in a million miles per hour. I
get really hyper, and some
times manic.
WHEN I was an kid and in my teens, I could
get destructive
feelings and some
times do them
like one
time when I was 12 yrs. old I made a very big mess in the kitchen. My dad
says when I'm not
taking my meds I have a wild look in my eyes. I have low self esteem. I

times
get weird
feelings and I
like when someone lays on the couch I'd push them off and that when I was 13 yrs. old.

My symptoms:
-Constant worry
-Always having to
know what
time it is
-Making sure no one is watching me
-BAD anger problems
-Twitches (such as squinting)
-I will often
think of very creative ideas, then I doubt I
can't do it and I give up and
get mad
-I
think REALLY deep about
things (it's quite ridiculous)
-Certain
things I have to
make sure are right (Like the door being locked)
-Constant
daydreaming
-One
time I
got so nervous, that I had problems catching my breath
-I am scared when
people or I if have to vomit
ALSO my dad
takes
medicine for some kind of chemical imbalance. I
think he has anxiety.
If I
think of more, I'll list them in details. I am only a 14

taking over me. I don't
know if it is generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), OCD, or what but it's clear that something is wrong. Yes I have asked this before, but I'm trying to

Open Question: Is this an alcohol problem?
//
September 8, 2010 at 8:29 PM
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100908172924AAJF1qY
I am 17 and have drinking regulary since I was 14, which is quite common in the country I'm from.
I have mild aspergers syndrome and have suffered from depression since I was 12.
I have always been an anxious person but it has
gotten worse over the
years and now it is crippling.
When
people ask to meet me I agree but I won't be able to sleep that night and I will have panic attacks and stomach
pains before I go to meet them, I appear to be a very confident person but it's all an act.
To combat my anxiety I have
started to have shots of vodka before I go out because it puts me and ease and the panic fades, but now it is becoming a problem.
If I go out and there is no alcohol I panic, alcohol is
like a security for me, it
seems to solve my issues. But now it is
like I
cannot go out if I am not tipsy and I'm at loss at what to do, is this alcohol dependance?
I do
take medicine for my anxiety but it evidently doesn't
seem to work well.

I have a 1
year old comet goldfish. I bought her when she was 1 inch long. She is 8 inches now. I had her in a tank with my other goldfish. Last week I noticed she had some white "fuzz"
like stuff around the outside of her mouth. She was also acting skiddish around the other fish. I put her in a 40 gallon cycled tank by herself. I went to petsmart and bought some triple sulfa anti-bacterial medication by API. I removed the carbon from the filters and began to medicate her water over a 5
day span.It doesn't
seem
like it
got better but it
didn't
get worse either. I'm wondering if the
medicine even worked. She is eating well and acting normal, she
just has that fungi stuff around her mouth.
My questions are : 1. What is this? 2. Whats the best way to treat.3. Does the fish food with antibiotics in it work? Any and all advice is appreciated.
I'm still not sure how she
got it. My water chemistry is near Perfect. I do regular partial water changes and gravel vacuuming. I over filtrate and have plenty of aeration.Ammonia is at zero always.
Here is a link to a picture I
took tonight. You
can see the white "fuzz" on her mouth.

//
September 8, 2010 at 7:52 PM
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100908165202AA1Fzxt
I have faced many issues
like friends and coworkers not liking me. I
think I am an easy
going person who
just wants to have fun and accomplish
things at the same
time. I don't
make many friends, but the ones I do have tend to be in my career path and very smart. They are the only ones who
want me to succeed. I am considering a career in
medicine, and I am
going to a great undergraduate
school now. Many of the other
people I
know do not try to
help me, and I
feel like they do not even try to be nice to me. They tend to ignore me in class. Only the
doctors and professionals I work with in my internships
like me.
I find that
people,
like my boss, do not
like me because I am so hardworking. My boss, who owns a small store, used to
like me and she said I am a
good worker and very responsible. However, she recently (8 months after I began working at the store)
told me she doesn't
like how I work and she ignores me constantly. She also
makes rude comments about me to customers. She never
says what she doesn't
like about me, or why there was a change of heart. My coworkers have also
started picking on me about how much I
study about how I don't have a life, and even about my weight (i am not even heavy!!).
So my question is, what
can I do when
people try to
make me
feel terrible? And it is not
just me, there are other
people close to me who have noticed
people aren't very friendly to me, even if I don't
really know them.
Casey- (I am actually only 20). Those are my exact words! Kill them with kindness!! But
gets overwhelming some
times... Thanks!

doctor is
going to
think it's weird that I
want to be on a daily dose of valtrex to

want to have to explain my new relationship to her. I also don't
know how common it is for a person to be on a daily dose to
keep from spreading genital herpes, because I would

doctor would have done that in the first place if this was common? If you are on a

didn't ejaculate (he
didn't ejaculate earlier in the
day either or the
day before) nor
did we have actual intercourse. I also
started my normally heavy period the
day after (usually starts with brown discharge and
gets extremely heavy for the next 6
days).
The week after that, I
started panicking at the thought of pregnancy and became extremely stressed out.
Two days following that I had a severe headache, nausea, and diarrhea, and since have had frequent urination,
pain in my lower abdomen, and some slight lower
back pain. I was given Macrobid by my
doctor who said that I was NOT pregnant (urinalysis, but the urinalysis was two weeks after my "intimate experience") and had white blood cells in my urine. I
took this and my abdominal
pain subsided. I finished my
medicine 48 hours
ago.
Now, I am experiencing an occasional metallic taste in my mouth and have sore breasts. My period isn't due until the 19th, and I'm used to
feeling sore breasts a little less than a week before I begin (not at this level of soreness either). I am also experiencing lots of gas and persistent diarrhea. Am I pregnant? Or
just paranoid? Is this caused by stress?

just get on with it. Do you
think googling something

I am hospital
doctor myself and

Ooh arent you clever, because Doctors dont
make mis
takes do we, we are synthetic life forms, we

get a bit more experience in life, boy.
I agree I

Hello Everyone!
I
need some advice on where i should attend my last two
years of
high school, the reason being is because about 4
years ago my
family and i moved from our home in the states to Dubai, UAE .
Attending an international
school our so called Ameri
can curriculum is NOT
like the education i received
back home, in some ways its a bit mixed up, including various pieces of different curriculum, such as the IGCSE of Cambridge. In any case, its more of a LIQUID than a SOLID curriculum.
Now its been decided that I will finish my last
year of
high school in the states but according to what Ive been reading , junior
year is the most important. SO, i would
really like to put all my efforts into a curriculum that's straight forward .
The other
day my parents talk to my brothers and i about staying in dubai for another two
years, hence, i would graduate from there.
Would it be better to graduate from overseas?
Would i have to
take the TOEFL exam?
Do you
think it would be best to finish my last two
years in america?
what are the benefits of
going to
high school in america rather than one in a foreign country?
I
think that
going back home and finishing
school there is whats best to do, because im planning on
going to
college and university (
medicine ) at home in the states, so maybe my last two
years in america would be better for me

For the past week, towards evening and when I wake up in the morning, I start having a lot of chest congestion, coughing, and occasionally sneezing. After I am up and moving around for a bit, the symptoms for the most part go away, minus some lingering congestion. Then when it's close to bed
time, the symptoms start
back up again. It has now become progressively worse, in that any
time I lay down, the coughing and congestion start
back up, and it now
takes several hours for the symptoms to go away. I'm a little baffled, and I don't
seem to have a fever or any

And I have been

I'm a 14y/o girl, and for a while, I've been wondering if there might be something wrong with me. Every few months for the last
year or two, I've been having these insane "tantrums", let's
say. I should start from the beginning,
just to give you some
background.
When I was 2, my parents divorced. I
can hardly remember the
days when the three of us were to
gether, so the fact that they're apart has never
really bothered me, I guess. I was a very stubborn child, and I
got into trouble a lot, or so I
seem to remember. My mom remarried when I was 6, and my dad had a longterm girlfriend, I'll call her Ms. Lene, from the
time that I was 3 or 4 until about a
year ago. When they moved in to
gether, when I was about 8, my mom
started taking me to
see a therapist regularly, although I
can't
really remember why.
Around this
time, my
doctor also had me start
taking a
medicine called Strattera, which, I believe, was supposed to
help me concentrate, but I
think my mom
told me it
helped my moods too. Later, I switched to Concerta, and about 2
years ago, a
medicine called Adderall.
From the
time I was about 4, I absolutely despised smoking or tobacco of any form. My dad had been smoking for
years, and I hated it. He always promised to quit, but then
started up again. This made me very stressed as a kid, and I remember I would often worry that my daddy would die. One
day, when I was about 7, I caught him smoking (he always tried to hide it), and I cried for hours. This is the earliest memory I have of throwing one of my major tantrums (but of course, it went unnoticed, because I was still a small child). I yelled at my dad,
told him he was a liar, that I
didn't
want to visit him until he quit. He felt very
bad, I
think, and promised it would never happen again. But
things like this continued to happen for several
years.
As I
got older, I
didn't have so many of these problems, but when I was 10, I
started getting in huge arguments with my mom. Things
like "I hate you" and "I wish you were dead" came from my mouth, as I sobbed and argued with my mom. In the last
year or so,
things have
gotten WAY out of hand, though. When I
get mad, I erupt in fury and in hysterical sobs. I cry and hyperventilate for hours, and I completely lose control. I
can't
stop myself. I
get dizzy and lightheaded, and I scream. I'm not angry,
really; I
just can't
stop screaming.
So far, this has only happened a handful of
times, and it's always with my
family. They tell me to shut up, go to my room, "Stop making everything so difficult for the whole
family." I
feel like a monster. I
get so stressed out. My mom
says
things like, '"Katy, you don't understand what you do to this
family. We do so much for you, and you act
like a bratty, unappreciative little bitch. If you dared to do that to your friends or your future husband, you wouldn't have any relationships. Everybody would
think you're a psycho." But she
just doesn't
get it! I don't try to do it. I
get so stressed out, and I
can't
think straight. On the inside, I
know it's wrong, I
know that I NEED to
stop. But I
know that I
can't
stop it. Afterwards, I
feel like such a horrible person. I pray to God that I
can stop putting my
family and myself through all this.
This isn't anything
like the person I am in real life. I'm happy, bubbly, confident, the most friendly, out
going person in any room. I'm smart, I have so much
going for me. I don't mean to be vain, but I attract
people like a magnet. And I'm always genuinely happy! I have a positive outlook on life. A
good family with
good values. It doesn't
make sense that a person
like myself could have so many issues.
I'm
thinking I could have an anxiety disorder. My psychologists always
told me I had to manage my worries. Or could it possibly be a personality disorder?

Ok,so to

Last month i lost 8 pounds during the week of my period, it

didnt
really help anything.
I thought maybe it was from stress and not
really eating as much as usual, but i still ate enough, it shouldnt of caused that big of a problem.
Then this month my period lasted two
days, i was fine for a couple
days after, then yester
day i had intense
pain in my right ovary and
back,
medicine didnt
help much and it was to the point i was crying and couldnt sleep cause it was that intense. I was also nausaus and extremly lightheaded, very bloated, could hardly eat anything, I went to uc but they couldnt figure out what it was. to
day i weighed myself and realized ive lost 4 pounds since yester
day. i still forced food into myself yester

going on with the weight loss and why im having such intense
pains after my period ended. could it be a cyst or something else?!
im only 18, 5'3 and 103 pounds. if that

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100908134112AAKbmV4
Hi. I've been dating my boyfriend for about 7 months. He's an emergency
medicine resident (2nd
year). He is overwhelmingly busy now. He works long hours at the hospital and after he has to fill out chats and so on. He rarely has
time for now anymore. We used to hang out a lot more during his 1st
year residency but now work is a whole different creator this
year. I
feel neglected because I don’t
get to
see him as much as I
want to or talk to him as much anymore. I understand his busy schedule which is why I don’t complain to him but I don’t
want him to
think that I don’t mind not hanging out with him. It’s hard to mention something
like this to someone who is so busy because I
feel like this brings on more stress for him. I
feel like I’m losing connection with him, although every
time we hang out we have so much fun. I still
think he's
really into me but right now it’s
just hard for him to manage his personal
time. He wrote an email to me last night
saying “I'm sorry
we couldn’t hang out tonight. It's
just been a rough stretch. I haven't allowed any
time to recover and
take care of myself.. I
just feel like I'm wasting away. There is so much pressure to be efficient and move fast at work, and then expectations to read and
study, all my charts afterward, and then trying to fit
family, friends, and personal
time in too. It's
like trying to spread too little butter over a big piece of toast;
just constantly being spread to thin and don't
feel like I'm doing well at any of them…” Any advice on how to
back without nagging? I
just want to be a supportive girlfriend. Thanks in advance.
//
Open Question: What if it changed me and now I

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100908132935AAbjy3p
I had a breakdown in
high school. I never thought I'd miss my
time there. Socially,
things were great, but I'm a perfectionist, so I always
needed 100s or I'd
get very upset with myself, so academically I hated it (it was
just a ton of pressure to be flawless).
I'm in
college now, I miss my
school and I miss my teachers and I miss home. It
took giving-up having a life and any tiny bit of happiness I had left in me to
make it to the top of my class, so how on earth am I supposed to excel in
college when I had to
study non-
stop (
day and night, plus I starved myself (so not having food saved
time, though that's not why I
did it))
just to excel in
high school?
For
years, I've
wanted to kill myself, but once I earn my
doctorate I'll finally
get to
take a vow of poverty and volunteer all the
time (I volunteer now, but it's not the same), plus, I
need to be here for my
family. Also, suicide is against my religion.
I have no idea what to do. School is too much for me. I
got desperate enough to go to therapy and to
take medicine (both of which I'm against), and to
take a gap
year last
year, and I still
can't handle
school. The pressure is too great. I'm so blessed to have this opportunity, but I'd rather die than continue on with all of this pressure (I've felt it since before I even
started kindergarten).
I used to believe in mind over matter, because starving and not sleeping definitely were very tiring, but I never let my grades drop, however, now I
can't overcome this hurdle. No matter how many
times I hear that no one's perfect or to
just relax, I
can't
stop obsessing. I don't
know what's wrong with me, but I'm tired of it. I
just want to
help people, but I have to earn my degrees in order to do it in the way I
want to; plus, education is my life, I either complete
college and graduate
school or I kill myself.
I don't
want to die, but I
can't handle
school anymore.
What if I've tried everything and I continue to
get worse? What if I
can't
get past what happened in
high school no matter how many
times I tell myself I'm over it?
Thank you for your
time.
I'm
really sorry, I mis-worded my post. I'm still in therapy. Thank you so much, I appreciate your response and
help!

"Excessive Self-Consciousness – you are overly aware of yourself, particularly in social situations.
Excessive Negative Self-Evaluation – you tend to
see yourself negatively.
Excessive Negative Self-Preoccupation – you tend to pay too much attention to all the
things you are doing wrong when you are around other
people."
so everyone that i
can be myself around with tells me i'm very funny, have quick wit, and amazing come

say that if i was myself in

going for pre-med but after interning in the ER I decided medical
school was not for me. I switched to biotechnology for medical research but in the end chemistry is
just kicking my butt and mutilated my once excellent GPA. To
get back in the swing of
things and because I decided on law
school, I switched my major to political science.
Everyone I talk to is
saying that I'm making a mis
take, that there are too many lawyers, not enough jobs and that I
really should stick to
medicine. I don't
want to be a

think I could be

doctors and lawyers aren't everything, but I

I am borderline GD with a running 2 hr result at about 128 if I eat no carbs. If I eat carbs at all, even a bowl of cereal it spikes to 180-200.
So I am completly outdoing carbs 100 percent rather than
take the oral
medicine they prescribed instead of the safe insulin (which I will try to bend there arm on this)
So I am not a big meat eater and never have been. Maybe thats the prob?
I went to the store last night and bought a bunch of Teriyaki (very slim lean cut) beef and grilled it with A1 sauce. That's all I ate for dinner. And my blood sugar spiked to 160 ! Was it the A1 sauce?
Thanks so much :)

I live in NY, but I don't mind
going to diff state (especially if its california =P)
Not a rich
family, but I
can always
get scholarships. (obviously cheaper is better).
Have a 95.5 average.
SAT: 710 math, 710 CR, 720 Writing, but im
taking it 1 more
time.
ACT: gonna
take soon.
SAT II: 790 math level 2, 740 on chem.
I interested in either chemical engineering/
medicine (idk yet).
Thinking about cooper union, cornell, columbia (might b 2 hard to
get in), queens honors, binghamton...but what other
schools
can I apply to?
THANKS

If I were to complete a biomedical course and thereafter
study medicine in a graduate, after finalizing both courses will my overall
knowledge in
medicine be
just as
good as someone who has
taken an undergraduate course or not because I
didn't do the first two
years as done usual

I have a blocked tube - from endometriosis & adhesion's. I have two surgeries in the past. I am probably due for another one. When I am about to start my period & when I actually start I have so much
pain on the side my tube is blocked on -
pain medicine some
times won't even touch the
pain. I am
thinking about
getting it removed. What do you all
think? I have been trying for
years to conceive. I am still hoping EVERY month it will happen, as I believe in miracles! Thanks for any advice!

Open Question: Extended Project Qualification...HELP!?
//

Hi
I
started A-levels about 5
days
ago :P
My subjects are Further maths, maths, chemistry, french and critical
thinking.
I'm interested in
going into
medicine at uni.
Any ideas about topics I could possibly do for the extended project qualification?
Please help.
Thank you.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THESE?
I was searching on yahoo answers website and I found several potentially ok topics:
1. Should the government introduce a sugar tax, much
like the taxes on tobacco and alcohol, to raise much
needed money and reduce the healthcare costs arising from sugar consumption?
2. How about the pros and cons of treating / charging patients with self-inflicted illnesses due to obesity or smoking.
WHICH ONE SEEMS BETTER?

Open Question: will my betta's fins grow
back?
//
September 8, 2010 at 1:55 PM
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100908105520AAChdy7
So I put my female betta in with my male betta and he destroyed her fins. I put her in a 2 gallon tank with a plant and some rocks and I put 1tsp of Bettafix in there. The directions
say to repeat dosage every
day, and then after a week do a water change. I am wondering how long it will
take for my betta's fins to grow
back? And also, the tank she is in does not have a filter. Should there be a filter if I am repeating the dosage of
medicine every
day? I don't
want her to
get overdosed.
Also,
can I use Bettafix on my male guppy? he has a torn fin that
seems to
just never
get better and always stay the same.
thanks !!!

I am 12 weeks pregnant and I
can't eat at all, I
can keep down fluids, but basically any food
makes me gag, I
can't
keep it down. Even the thought of food
makes me so nauseous. I tried saltines, and they dont
help whatsoever, they
just make me more nauseous because I have thrown them up so many
times. Did anyone else
feel this way? Also, I have nausea
medicine, but I
can't
keep it down either. What should I do? Thanks lots :)
